What was the most rewarding part of being on the BLSA Executive Board?

Watching our impact spread beyond our chapter members and to the law school as a whole. We sponsored events other than parties that were well attended by a diverse group of students and faculty. We ended up being voted the best student organization at the law school.

What challenges did you face as a member of the BLSA Executive Board?

When I took over as president, we were in debt and our phone in our office was turned off. By the end of that year, we were able to clear up our debt and have money for the next administration to use.

How did your participation in the BLSA Executive Board shape you as a Black professional?

As a leader, it taught me to support the ideas of my members, even if I didn't think they would work, because you could be surprised by great successes. As a black professional, it reminded me the importance of supporting each other and providing a space where we can be comfortable and not feel embattled for our blackness.
