What was the most rewarding part of being on the BLSA Executive Board?

Honestly, contributing to the success of one of the most active student groups at the law school is a reward all in itself. It warms my heart to know that my peers and colleagues trust me enough to represent their interests to the school and the larger legal community, particularly in the wake of the global protests and movements we've seen regarding the value of black lives and the structural injustices in the law.

What challenges did you face as a member of the BLSA Executive Board?

The main challenge I've seen is a pretty universal experience for black people given the opportunity to speak truth to power: the difficulty in getting those with the authority to enact systemic change to actually listen to us and do the work necessary to achieve racial justice and equity.

How did your participation in the BLSA Executive Board shape you as a Black professional?

It's been interesting to have to wear multiple hats, depending on the who I am trying to serve, which is a skill that I believe will be useful as I enter the legal field.
