What was the most rewarding part of being on the BLSA Executive Board?

So far, the most rewarding part of being on the BLSA E-Board has been engaging with the incoming class of 2023 and working to set them up for success during their first semester, despite its "unconventional" nature.

What challenges did you face as a member of the BLSA Executive Board?

Broadly speaking, keeping BLSA "connected" in the wake of Covid-19 and maintaining the feeling of being a cohesive team as an E-Board has been challenging this year. As Community Service Chair, finding ways to keep BLSA members excited about and engaged in "virtual" support activities has also taken effort.

How did your participation in the BLSA Executive Board shape you as a Black professional?

Being part of the BLSA E-Board has been a great reminder of how beneficial it is to surround yourself with "good" people (define that how you will). Whether in support or celebration, they answer the questions you're embarrassed to ask others, show up when needed, provide different perspectives and ideas, challenge you to go a step farther, and encourage you to be the best version of yourself. None of us will launch into our careers alone. The knowledge that "you are the sum of who you surround yourself with" is worth taking forward into any professional setting.
